Supply Chains: Optimizing U.S. Manufacturing’s Global Competitiveness

In the process of optimizing the performance of all levels of the supply chain, manufacturing executives discuss ways on improving America’s global competitiveness.

Earlier this month, the White House assembled over 30 manufacturers at the White House Supply Chain Innovation Initiative. During this initiative, manufacturing executives discussed how to improve the supply chain by re-building the supply chain backbone made up of small manufacturers.

Small manufacturers play a very important role in the supply chain process and the only way for the U.S. to obtain a global competitiveness is by collaborating with these small companies. In fact, the success of manufacturing companies today relies heavily on products sold and branded by individual companies.

In MEP’s infographic below, it shows the supply chains interdependence and collaboration of companies at all levels of the manufacturing process.

Supply Chain Optimization in the field

"MEP has put together an intelligent program that was well thought out and challenging for supply chain management team. They challenged our supply chain approach and current paradigm – forcing us to take a fresh look at what we do and how we do it. We are using the supply chain strategy tools that they provided as “take-aways” to change how we do things."
